Collection Desciption: The Stepney Collection consists of a photographic album and several prints detached from the album that belonged to Alfred Eric Stepney, an African American from White Plains, New York. It is titled "Service Album, Fort Bragg, N.C." The album is bound in soft brown leather and measures 6 1/2 x 9 inches. It contains 62 photographs, some of which are detached.
Many of the photographs appear to have been made outside the barracks at Fort Bragg in 1941 or 1942, and include African Americans and a few whites. Other prints, some of an earlier date, include family and friends in unknown locations. Many of the prints have ink notes identifying the images. A few photographs appear to be missing from the album. A. E. Stepney's Fort Bragg photographic "pass card" is also included.
